Directions
- Place the apples, dates and water in a pan and simmer gently for about 5 minutes until the apples are soft. Leave to cool.
- Mix together the oats, butter or margarine, sugar and cinnamon. Spoon half into a greased 20 cm/8 in square cake tin (pan) and level the surface.
- Top with the apple and date mixture, then cover with the remaining oat mixture and level the surface. Press down gently. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 for about 30 minutes until golden brown. Leave to cool, then cut into bars.
